EXEGESIS: (from the Greek ἐξηγεῖσθαι “to lead out”) – a critical explanation or interpretation of any text, the word is generally used with regards to Scriptural texts within many faith traditions. Understood slightly differently within Catholicism and Protestantism, with characteristic emphases on authoritative and personal exegesis.
A thoughtful exegesis of an all-too-familiar scriptural text can be profoundly enhanced by relating lived experience to one’s analysis.
