(Dutch) Reformed Church in America Daily Prayer Request for Monday, 2 January 2012

From rca.org:

January 2 Prayer Request

Japan is one of the few countries in Asia that celebrates New Year's Day on January 1, the beginning of the solar new year, rather than the lunar new year. Pray that this new year will bring healing from all the tragedies suffered by the people in the "Land of the Rising Sun," and that they will turn to the risen Son.

Today's Scripture: Genesis 1:1-5

Genesis 1:1-5

Genesis

Six Days of Creation and the Sabbath

In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
