Job 19:23-27a
Job 19:23-27a
23“O that my words were written down! O that they were inscribed in a book! 24O that with an iron pen and with lead they were engraved on a rock forever! 25For I know that my Redeemer lives, and that at the last he will stand upon the earth; 26and after my skin has been thus destroyed, then in my flesh I shall see God, 27whom I shall see on my side, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me!
Psalm 17:1-9
Psalm 17
1Hear a just cause, O Lord; attend to my cry; give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit.
2From you let my vindication come; let your eyes see the right.
3If you try my heart, if you visit me by night, if you test me, you will find no wickedness in me; my mouth does not transgress.
4As for what others do, by the word of your lips I have avoided the ways of the violent.
5My steps have held fast to your paths; my feet have not slipped.
6I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me, hear my words.
7Wondrously show your steadfast love, O savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at your right hand.
8Guard me as the apple of the eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings,
9from the wicked who despoil me, my deadly enemies who surround me.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-5, 17-21
2 Thessalonians 2:1-5, 17-21
2As to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we beg you, brothers and sisters, 2not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as though from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord is already here.
3Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come unless the rebellion comes first and the lawless one is revealed, the one destined for destruction. 4He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, declaring himself to be God. 5Do you not remember that I told you these things when I was still with you? 17comfort your hearts and strengthen them in every good work and word.
Luke 20:27-38
Luke 20:27-38
27Some Sadducees, those who say there is no resurrection, came to him 28and asked him a question, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies, leaving a wife but no children, the man shall marry the widow and raise up children for his brother. 29Now there were seven brothers; the first married, and died childless; 30then the second 31and the third married her, and so in the same way all seven died childless. 32Finally the woman also died. 33In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will the woman be? For the seven had married her.” 34Jesus said to them, “Those who belong to this age marry and are given in marriage; 35but those who are considered worthy of a place in that age and in the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. 36Indeed they cannot die anymore, because they are like angels and are children of God, being children of the resurrection. 37And the fact that the dead are raised Moses himself showed, in the story about the bush, where he speaks of the Lord as the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. 38Now he is God not of the dead, but of the living; for to him all of them are alive.”

Haggai 1:15b-2:9
Haggai 1:15b-2:915on the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month.
2In the second year of King Darius, in the seventh month, on the twenty-first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by the prophet Haggai, saying: 2Speak now to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, and say, 3Who is left among you that saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Is it not in your sight as nothing? 4Yet now take courage, O Zerubbabel, says the Lord; take courage, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; take courage, all you people of the land, says the Lord; work, for I am with you, says the Lord of hosts, 5according to the promise that I made you when you came out of Egypt. My spirit abides among you; do not fear. 6For thus says the Lord of hosts: Once again, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land; 7and I will shake all the nations, so that the treasure of all nations shall come, and I will fill this house with splendor, says the Lord of hosts. 8The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the Lord of hosts. 9The latter splendor of this house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts; and in this place I will give prosperity, says the Lord of hosts.
Psalm 145:1-5, 17-21 or Psalm 98
Psalm 145
1I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever.
2Every day I will bless you, and praise your name forever and ever.
3Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; his greatness is unsearchable.
4One generation shall laud your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.
5On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.
17The Lord is just in all his ways, and kind in all his doings.
18The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
19He fulfills the desire of all who fear him; he also hears their cry, and saves them.
20The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.
21My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh will bless his holy name forever and ever.
Psalm 98
1O sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things. His right hand and his holy arm have gotten him victory.
2The Lord has made known his victory; he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations.
3He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.
4Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises.
5Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody.
6With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord.
7Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who live in it.
8Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills sing together for joy
9at the presence of the Lord, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity

Daniel 7:1-3, 15-18
Daniel 7:1-3, 15-18
7In the first year of King Belshazzar of Babylon, Daniel had a dream and visions of his head as he lay in bed. Then he wrote down the dream: 2I, Daniel, saw in my vision by night the four winds of heaven stirring up the great sea, 3and four great beasts came up out of the sea, different from one another.
15As for me, Daniel, my spirit was troubled within me, and the visions of my head terrified me. 16I approached one of the attendants to ask him the truth concerning all this. So he said that he would disclose to me the interpretation of the matter: 17“As for these four great beasts, four kings shall arise out of the earth. 18But the holy ones of the Most High shall receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever—forever and ever.”
Psalm 149
Psalm 149
1Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the faithful.
2Let Israel be glad in its Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King.
3Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre.
4For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with victory.
5Let the faithful exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their couches.
6Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands,
7to execute vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples,
8to bind their kings with fetters and their nobles with chains of iron,
9to execute on them the judgment decreed. This is glory for all his faithful ones. Praise the Lord!
Ephesians 1:11-23
Ephesians 1:11-2311In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his counsel and will, 12so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory. 13In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit; 14this is the pledge of our inheritance toward redemption as God’s own people, to the praise of his glory.
15I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, and for this reason 16I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers. 17I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, 18so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, 19and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power. 20God put this power to work in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the age to come. 22And he has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, 23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
Luke 6:20-31
Luke 6:20-31
20Then he looked up at his disciples and said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. 21“Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled. “Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. 22“Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man. 23Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, for surely your reward is great in heaven; for that is what their ancestors did to the prophets. 24“But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. 25“Woe to you who are full now, for you will be hungry. “Woe to you who are laughing now, for you will mourn and weep. 26“Woe to you when all speak well of you, for that is what their ancestors did to the false prophets.
27“But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. 29If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. 30Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. 31Do to others as you would have them do to you.

A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed
18(A) While he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came in and(B) knelt before him, saying, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live." 19And Jesus rose and followed him, with his disciples. 20And behold, a woman(C) who had suffered from a discharge of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched(D) the fringe of his garment, 21for she said to herself, "If I only touch his garment, I will be made well." 22Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, (E) "Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well."(F) And instantly[a] the woman was made well. 23And when Jesus came to the ruler’s house and saw(G) the flute players and the crowd making a commotion, 24he said, "Go away, for(H) the girl is not dead but(I) sleeping." And they laughed at him. 25But(J) when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and(K) took her by the hand, and the girl arose. 26And the report of this went through all that district.

The Broken Covenant
1The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD: 2(A) "Hear the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 3You shall say to them, Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel:(B) Cursed be the man who does not hear the words of this covenant 4that I commanded your fathers when I brought them out of the land of Egypt,(C) from the iron furnace, saying,(D) Listen to my voice, and do all that I command you. So shall you be my people, and I will be your God, 5(E) that I may confirm the oath that I swore to your fathers,(F) to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as at this day." Then I answered, "So be it, LORD."
6And the LORD said to me,(G) "Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem:(H) Hear the words of this covenant and do them. 7For I solemnly warned your fathers when I brought them up out of the land of Egypt,(I) warning them persistently, even to this day, saying,(J) Obey my voice. 8(K) Yet they did not obey or incline their ear,(L) but everyone walked in the stubbornness of his evil heart. Therefore I brought upon them all(M) the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they did not."
9Again the LORD said to me,(N) "A conspiracy exists among the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 10They have turned back to(O) the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear my words.(P) They have gone after other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant that I made with their fathers. 11Therefore, thus says the LORD, Behold, I am bringing disaster upon them that they cannot escape.(Q) Though they cry to me, I will not listen to them. 12Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem(R) will go and cry to the gods to whom they make offerings, but they cannot save them in the time of their trouble. 13(S) For your gods have become as many as your cities, O Judah, and as many as the streets of Jerusalem are the altars you have set up to shame,(T) altars to make offerings to Baal.
14"Therefore(U) do not pray for this people, or lift up a cry or prayer on their behalf,(V) for I will not listen when they call to me in the time of their trouble. 15(W) What right has my beloved in my house,(X) when she has done many vile deeds? Can even sacrificial flesh avert your doom?(Y) Can you then exult? 16The LORD once called you(Z) 'a green olive tree, beautiful with good fruit.' But(AA) with the roar of a great tempest he will set fire to it, and(AB) its branches will be consumed. 17The LORD of hosts,(AC) who planted you, has decreed disaster against you, because of the evil that the house of Israel and the house of Judah have done,(AD) provoking me to anger by making offerings to Baal."
18The LORD made it known to me and I knew;
then you showed me their deeds. 19But I was(AE) like a gentle lamb
led to the slaughter.I did not know(AF) it was against me
they devised schemes, saying,"Let us destroy the tree with its fruit,
(AG) let us cut him off from(AH) the land of the living,
that his name be remembered no more." 20But, O LORD of hosts, who judges righteously,
who(AI) tests(AJ) the heart and the mind,(AK) let me see your vengeance upon them,
for to you have I committed my cause.
21Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the men of(AL) Anathoth,(AM) who seek your life, and say,(AN) "Do not prophesy in the name of the LORD, or you will die by our hand"— 22therefore thus says the LORD of hosts: "Behold, I will punish them. The young men shall die by the sword, their sons and their daughters shall die by famine, 23and none of them shall be left. For I will bring disaster upon the men of(AO) Anathoth,(AP) the year of their punishment."

Jesus Foretells Destruction of the Temple
1(A) Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple. 2But he answered them, "You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you,(B) there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down."
Signs of the Close of the Age
3As he sat on(C) the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him(D) privately, saying, "Tell us,(E) when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your(F) coming and of(G) the close of the age?" 4And Jesus answered them, (H) "See that no one leads you astray. 5For(I) many will come in my name, saying, 'I am(J) the Christ,' and they will lead many astray. 6And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you(K) are not alarmed, for this(L) must take place, but the end is not yet. 7For(M) nation will rise against nation, and(N) kingdom against kingdom, and there will be(O) famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are but the beginning of(P) the birth pains.
9"Then(Q) they will deliver you up(R) to tribulation and(S) put you to death, and(T) you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. 10And then many will fall away[a] and(U) betray one another and hate one another. 11And many(V) false prophets will arise(W) and lead many astray. 12And because lawlessness will be increased,(X) the love of many will grow cold. 13(Y) But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom(Z) will be proclaimed throughout the whole world(AA) as a testimony(AB) to all nations, and(AC) then the end will come.
The Abomination of Desolation
15"So when you see the abomination of desolation(AD) spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in(AE) the holy place ((AF) let the reader understand), 16then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17(AG) Let the one who is on(AH) the housetop not go down to take what is in his house, 18and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his cloak. 19And(AI) alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! 20Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. 21For then there will be(AJ) great tribulation,(AK) such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. 22And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for(AL) the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. 23(AM) Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'There he is!' do not believe it. 24For(AN) false christs and(AO) false prophets will arise and(AP) perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. 25See,(AQ) I have told you beforehand. 26So, if they say to you, 'Look,(AR) he is in the wilderness,' do not go out. If they say, 'Look, he is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. 27(AS) For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be(AT) the coming of the Son of Man. 28(AU) Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.
