Morning Prayer

In the name of the Father……….

Opening Prayer

O God our heavenly Father, who hear the prayer and cry of your children, and grant them what they want and ask you, we humbly ask you to hear our morning prayers to begin this day with you and end it with you. Amen. Our Father…

Psalm 56: 1-13

56:1 Be merciful to me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresses me. 56:2 Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High. 56:3 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. 56:4 In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do to me. 56:5 Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil. 56:6 They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul. 56:7 Shall they escape by iniquity? in your anger cast down the people, O God. 56:8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into your bottle: are they not in your book? 56:9 When I cry to thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me. 56:10 In God will I praise his word: in the Lord will I praise his word. 56:11 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do to me. 56:12 Your vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises to thee. 56:13 For you have delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living? Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning…

Psalm 57: 1-11

57:1 Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me: for my soul trusts in thee: yea, in the shadow of your wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast. 57:2 I will cry to God most high; to God that performs all things for me. 57:3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth. 57:4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. 57:5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be above all the earth. 57:6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah. 57:7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. 57:8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. 57:9 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing to thee among the nations. 57:10 For your mercy is great to the heavens, and your truth to the clouds. 57:11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let your glory be above all the earth. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning…

Psalm 58: 1-11

58:1 Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men? 58:2 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth. 58:3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. 58:4 Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stops her ear; 58:5 Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely. 58:6 Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Lord. 58:7 Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bends his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces. 58:8 As a snail which melts, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun. 58:9 Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath. 58:10 The righteous shall rejoice when he seesthe vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. 58:11 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judges in the earth. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning…

The Gospel of St. Luke 18: 1-8

18:1 And he spoke a parable to them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night to him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? He who receives the Saint by the name of the Saint shall receive the Saint’s reward. Amen

Concluding Prayer

Lord our God, God of mercy and love, help us to keep on working, with fear and trembling, to complete our salvation, for you are always at work in us to make us willing and able to obey your own purpose. Grant us your grace to do everything without complaining or arguing, that we may be innocent and pure, as your perfect children. Amen. Our Father…O my Lady Mary…..

Psalm 59: 1-17

59:1 Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me. 59:2 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men. 59:3 For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Lord. 59:4 They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold. 59:5 Thou therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah. 59:6 They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city. 59:7 Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear? 59:8 But thou, O Lord, shall laugh at them; thou shall have all the heathen in derision. 59:9 Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence. 59:10 The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies. 59:11 Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by your power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield. 59:12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak. 59:13 Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God rules in Jacob to the ends of the earth. Selah. 59:14 And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city. 59:15 Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied. 59:16 But I will sing of your power; yea, I will sing aloud of your mercy in the morning: for you have been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. 59:17 To thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning…

Psalm 60: 1-12

60:1 O God, you have cast us off, you have scattered us, you have been displeased; O turn thyself to us again. 60:2 You have made the earth to tremble; you have broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shakes. 60:3 You have showed your people hard things: you have made us to drink the wine of astonishment. 60:4 You have given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. 60:5 That your beloved may be delivered; save with your right hand, and hear me. 60:6 God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. 60:7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver; 60:8 Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph because of me. 60:9 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom? 60:10 Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies? 60:11 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. 60:12 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning…

Psalm 61: 1-8

61:1 Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. 61:2 From the end of the earth will I cry to thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 61:3 For you have been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. 61:4 I will abide in your tabernacle forever: I will trust in the covert of your wings. Selah. 61:5 For thou, O God, have heard my vows: you have given me the heritage of those that fear your name. 61:6 Youwilt prolong the king's life: and his years as many generations. 61:7 He shall abide before God forever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him. 61:8 So will I sing praise to your name forever, that I may daily perform my vows. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning…

The Synaxarium:

THE THIRD MONTH

HEDAR 01

(November 10)

IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER AND THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT,

ONE GOD. AMEN.

Month of Hedar the blessed. In this month the length of the [first] day is ten hours, and then it diminishes.

On this day the fighters and saints Maximus, and Manfius, and Victorius, and Philip [of Africa] became martyrs. These holy fighters were natives of the country of Phrygia, and they were brethren in the Holy Spirit though not according to the flesh, and they gathered together and became companions for the sake of the love of Christ. And in the days of Decius, the infidel emperor, the Seven Children fled and hid themselves in a cave in the top of a mountain. And when these fighters [and] martyrs Maximus and his companions saw the infidel emperor denying Christ, and torturing the Christians, they rose up and gathered themselves together, and they agreed together with one consent that they would declare publicly their faith. And they drew nigh unto that infidel emperor, and they cried out, saying, “We are Christians openly, and we believe on Christ, the Son of the Living God, and we bow down before Him and we serve Him.” When that infidel heard these words he was wroth with them, and he commanded [the soldiers] to beat them and they beat them very severely for a long time with whips made of leather. And they beat them again with iron rods, which had been made red-hot in the fire, and then they rubbed their wounds with bits of rag made of hair, which had been soaked in vinegar and salt. When they would not obey his commends, and were not afraid of his tortures, and would not turn from their good counsel, the emperor waxed exceedingly wroth, and he commanded the soldiers to torture them very severely, and [the soldiers] did unto them even as he commanded. And when those who were there saw the patient endurance of the holy martyrs, many of them believed on our Lord Jesus Christ. Then straightway the emperor commanded the soldiers to cut off their heads, and to hack each of them in twain with a single blow of their swords, and thereupon they all received crowns of martyrdom in the kingdom of the heavens. Salutation to Maximus and his brethren.

Glory be to God Who is glorified in His Saints. Amen.
