The Eyes of the Lord
KEY VERSE: "The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good," Proverbs 15:3.
In this age of electronics, we have all become aware of bugging devices. A person's office, hotel room or telephone can be monitored so every sound can be picked up. This is accomplished through highly sensitive microphones that are so small they can be easily hidden. Heads of state, government officials and business people in strategic positions must be exceedingly careful of what they say, especially when entering a strange setting. They must think twice before they speak.
This is a favorite approach for modern TV thrillers. Sometimes the wrongdoers are caught simply by extreme surveillance. Sometimes people are caught up in such programs as "Facebook" and their secrets are on the Internet for everyone to see.
Did you ever stop to think that God sees everything we do and hears everything we say every moment of the day? This truth can be both comforting and sobering. Comforting because God stands ready to deliver us when we are in trouble (Psalm 33:18, 19). Sobering because God's all-seeing eyes see everything we do, everywhere we go. This knowledge can have a profound effect indeed on our lives and behavior.
LIVING IT: Know always and truly that God is with you in everything you do.
Mary McCalister
