Sarah's Faith

KEY VERSE: "Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised," Hebrews 11 :11.

Sarah had a strong personality with a well-developed character. Yet, as Peter wrote, she "obeyed Abraham, calling him lord" (1 Peter 3:6).

Her relationship with her husband determined her relationship with God. Her trust in God had made her a faithful, strong woman, enabling her to stand in life undaunted and steadfast, living in harmony with her husband.

Sarah knew that, to live a life of faith, she was not to rely on human resources. Now, she learned she had to have patience. Sadly, Sarah's one deed of impatience had far-reaching effects which are felt even today. The Arabs, descendants of Ishmael, and the Jews, the descendants of Isaac, have been lasting enemies.

We can learn in our study of Sarah that faith is that indescribable connection with God through which He gives power, life, guidance, perseverance, strength, joy, peace, greatness, meekness, righteousness and the assurance of our ability to please Him.

The general tenor of Sarah's and Abraham's lives was faith and faithfulness. Paul wrote of Abraham, "He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; ... giving glory to God" (Rom. 4:20).

LIVING IT: Show the same faith Sarah showed in her life, and you will be a person of faith as was Sarah.
