Be Transformed—Not Conformed
KEY VERSE: "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God," Romans 12:2.
A popular monthly devotional had this to share. There is bad news. Our culture has a horrible influence on our families and friends. The entertainment world offers many different kinds of sinful behavior for our hearing and observation. One TV channel has been examined by a film critic who said: "There is absolutely no excuse for MTV to be present in the home. It is 100-percent negative."
However, there is good news. None of these negative influences have to bother you. These influences affect you only with your consent. You should find great comfort in knowing that the Lord has given you the resources to live above this degradation—His Spirit and His Word.
We need to face one fact. Our problem is sin—not finances, not budgets. Our problem is sin. Sinful man is in rebellion against his Creator. He is separated from the Heavenly Father. He is cut off from the source of life.
That is why the Bible uses such terms as conversion, repentance, lost and found. Sinful man may try to renovate, but only God can recreate.
LIVING IT: Yield to the Spirit, and you will not be conformed to the world.
