The Promise of Perfect Peace
KEY VERSE: "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee," Isaiah 26:3.
An old soldier of the cross is about to undergo surgery. The doctors have told him there is only a fifty percent chance he will survive the surgery. There is no hope of survival without surgery. The night before surgery he is in a peaceful mood as he visits with friends and family. When asked why he did not seem worried about the surgery, he explained that he would be blessed either way. If he lived, God would have granted him a few more years to serve Him. If the surgery were not successful, he would awaken in Heaven. Either way, he would be blessed.
Perfect peace comes by trusting God and not worrying about circumstances. The only way to have this type of peace is to keep one's mind focused on God. God is in control of all things. Nothing happens beyond His perfect will. If He allows you to face a challenge, He will give you the grace to live above those circumstances. If He calls on you to do something difficult, He will give you the strength and courage to face that challenge. God gives peace in the boisterous winds of the storm and in the gentle breezes of the day. He gives peace by allowing us to escape hardships or in the midst of hardships. His is the peace that the world knows nothing about and cannot offer.
JUST A THOUGHT: Seek the peace of God that transcends understanding.
