Chronicler Miron Costin words, that "there are times in human helm, but the poor man under the weather helm, fit only earthly life of the saints, but pale in the face of eternal life to which they tend. The Orthodox Church teaches that life is one that we should not be viewed as a goal, but is a means by which we work our salvation. Saint Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom lived on this earth with the thought of eternal life. People's attitude toward them has gone into the background and remained so indifferent to the praise and the disparagement, to listen, in silence, the Word of God.

Apostle ordained to be read at the service of Holy Three Hierarchs summarize, a verse in the life "of bishops trinity" commemorated today: "For here we have the city right, but look for that to come" (Hebrew 13, 14) .

History proves many times that the figures are little appreciated by his contemporaries, with the need to pass many years to be discovered at their fair value. Saints, however, consciously sacrificed the worldly life to eternal happiness. Looking at the lives of three great hierarchs of the Church, we see that each of them had to go through the vicissitudes of weather. Both people in the Church hostile secular rule and servants of the Lord hard road paved with weights of the Holy Three Hierarchs in this life. Here are some examples that make us wonder whether our goals in life are targeted and how much material can tilt the balance of spiritual worldliness forever.

St. Basil the Great, "a prophet in his own country"

In 375, St. Basil's Eustatic Sevastia Arian monk address a letter to the party admires the body above the ascetics whom he visited in Egypt, Palestine and Mesopotamia Celesiria, saying that they left "the impression that it would spend a foreign body, as he would have citizenship in heaven. "

Archbishop Cappadocian life, reproduced from the writings of his friend, St. Gregory the Theologian, the portrait of a true "citizen of heaven in the world." Metropolitan Anthony Plamadeala worthy memorial of St. Basil reminded stance against the supreme earthly authority: "In the name of the king, one of the conversations with St. Basil wore a prefect Modest, who went so far as to threaten with death, unless you give the king, following his religion (Arian, no). St. Basil was very categorical in its answers, so prefect said at one point: "Nobody spoke to me thus far and with so much freedom "to which the saint replied:" Perhaps you've never met a bishop "."

"It is better for us to disappear, only to understand each other Churches"

Christ's words contained in the Gospel of Matthew (13, 57) - "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and his home" - match of the event in the life of St. Basil, when a series of intrigues and slander have made itself the city where he saw daylight, Neocezareea Pontus, would become hostile. These slanders were from his Atarbios, and relative Neocezareei Bishop of St. Basil. In a letter to the community Neocezareea, Basil says he regret his ignorance Atarbios, remove all the charges against him and show that local churches should not suffer because of our relationships: "It is better for us to disappear, only churches to understand each other, instead seeing our childish and petty quarrels causing such great harm God's people. Ask your parents and they will tell you that if parishes seemed separated by distance, but they were one in thought and were managed by a single thought. uninterrupted peoples were links between them, the endless visits by clergy, the herders were inspired by a great love between them so that each take the other as teacher and leader in the service of God. "

Among the writings of St. Gregory the Theologian and a few epitaphs are dedicated to family or close friends. One of these holy places in the friendship of the two spectra of eternity: "Here I have put cezareenii, me Basil, Basil's son, prince among priests and Gregory's friend whom I loved with all my heart. May God give between all the happiness-that to soon reach our life: what on earth to be late to move here when our mind is a friend in heaven? "

St. Gregory

Theologian, "a loser ... bearing a crown"

St. Gregory is one of the few golden age of the Fathers of the Church which we have accurate biographical information, written by himself. Autobiographical poems left behind centuries takes us through the cities of the fourth and fifth, to see how he lived his life the great bishop. In an "epitaph on himself" (II, I, 93), St. Gregory he summarized in ten points, whole life: "First of all, God gave me a mother who prayed for me light. Second , received me in her womb as a gift enjoyable. Thirdly, a mass şeuharisticăţ righteous saved me when I died. Fourth, the Word gave me a two-edged word. Fifthly, I wrapped her virginity Sweet dreams. Sixthly, I had a thought to the priesthood in Basil. Seventh, the Giver-of-life kidnapped me from the bosom of the deep. Eighth, through sickness and cleanse my hands. Ninth all, we introduced it, the king, the young Trinity in Rome. Tenth, I was stoned with friends. "

"The only autobiography of ancient literature"

The poem "about his life" (II, I, 11), both autobiographical and apologetic, is considered by DIAC. John I. lea jr., Translator of the works in Romanian, "the only autobiography of ancient literature! In 1949 lyrics, great shows, each bishop had to pass along the earthly life, confessing that "poetic meter is a remedy for pain, and we will leave them as" Listening to all, and those now and those who come afterward. "

Reading the verses in which St. Gregory the Theologian, St. Basil the Great speaks, you realize what a true friendship, and how few are those who build upon something like this: "Then came Athens and studies. S ... T is in the prime of life and naval boldness, while others were like the breeze with fellow Pierce, we may lead a quiet life, letting those who dragged us went to the injury, but we are dragging ourselves to best friends. s ... t Who is it? But you know very well: it was Basil, the great use of life now. With this study had in common, the roof and thoughts. And if I must boast, I was not trivial in a pair of Hellas, because all we had shared and one soul bind two distinct bodies. What we are united in particular was this: God and the longing for the best. "

"Defender of the word lawyer, came to help me support my defense of Christ"

The period in which Saint Gregory found the Church of Constantinople still got crushed by the Trinitarian disputes. Arian Emperor Valens, passed away in mid-378, leaving behind an imperial capital with many Arian churches, the Orthodox are a minority. On the night of the year 379 Resurrection, April 21, St. Gregory has suffered violent attacks with stones from the Aryans, Anastasia Church in Constantinople. Here's how the great bishop describes the beginning of his ministry in the city on the shores of the Bosphorus: "Coming here I fell in many breast Constantinopolţ bad. First the city was kindled against me as if I have introduced many gods instead of one. And it's not surprising, because they have been bred to ignore the word altogether true faith. S ... T then I went to the authorities as a murderer who one law: to be in favor of the people, and they looked top and pride to me, N., do not ever think anything I had done no şrăuţ as a disciple of the Word. " Before the attacks of the world, the great bishop sought support from him whom she had served her entire life: "Defender of the word lawyer, came to help me support my defense of Christ."

A scan of the atmosphere made the imperial capital of St. Gregory can be a real lesson in sociology, current to this day: "But how could ever stand the ship, the city, the army, the fullness of a choir or a house, if They have more than what hurt them than they take? "

Fits perfectly holy mission that uphold, lived an earthly life to eternal life always reported. Was treated with contempt by his contemporaries as to seem unusual purity in a perverted world so: "For a man not bear very poor, ragged, always with his head down and badly dressed, prey bites stomach, the tears burned The fear of the future, and the evils of others, nefălos spot, stranger, wandering, hiding in the darkness of the earth, is more successful than the vigorous and beautiful. "

True history is not only one of the plan, reported only in humans and life on earth. Judging from historical facts, may St. Gregory was defeated by the environment in which it was given to live, but he also shows us the true life, whichever is: "A beat - a miracle! - Bearing a crown, which God is God and friends instead of a chair. s ... t you ashamed of the bad ones, you who have enthroned me yesterday and today I've driven myself fleeing from them. I will stand with the angels . Nobody can hurt me again, but no

I will not be helpful. I will retire with God. Languages to flow like breezes past me empty. I'm sick of it, I who have been hit more libels, as well as exceptional praise. "

Later life was spent in quiet solitude, far from the intrigues of the capital: "I call my loneliness away from bad people live, where the divine mind and hope sought only slightly above those for which it feeds the elderly. What will give Churches? tears. For God gathered them leading me through many turns my life. "

"In the year 387, St. John Chrysostom was a priest in Antioch, he managed a crisis that had threatened to ruin the whole city. Under the pressure of excessive imperial taxation, people have destroyed the statues representing the royal family and the repercussions were be drastic. In these circumstances, John reminded his pastoral "Do not forget, if you're Christian, that your country is not on earth."

St. John Chrysostom, "the athlete who ran in the light Eshatonului"

After leaving Constantinople, St. Gregory the Theologian, was replaced in the seat of the Archbishop of nectar, which the shepherd to death. In 397, the call of the imperial court, St. John Chrysostom Archbishop of Constantinople was installed. Although the imperial eunuch Eutropius, Prime Minister of Emperor Arcadius (395-408), had an important role in his election as bishop of the capital, it has not been spared the admonitions of St. John, criticizing from the pulpit mores of the time.

In the year 387, being a priest in Antioch, he managed a crisis in which the whole city was threatened with destruction. Under excessive pressure of imperial taxation, people have destroyed the statues representing the royal family and the repercussions would be drastic. In these circumstances, John reminded his pastoral "Do not forget, if you're Christian, that your country is not on earth."

In a presentation ceremony held at the Patriarchal Palace, the Feast of the Three Holy Hierarchs of 2006, Fr. conf Dr. Daniel Benga, dean of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Bucharest, this St. John Chrysostom as "an athlete who ran in the light Eshatonului:" Due to the strictness of the moral and accepting no compromise, St. John was tried and deposed chair fall 403 consisting of 36 bishops council chaired by Theophilus of Antioch, held in Chalcedon in agreement with the imperial court at the place called "the Oaks", based on totally unfounded allegations. So Simple

reading of the charges of St. John can convince any reader disprove Salete conviction. After a first exile was recalled to resume his seat because of popular unrest and divine signs, but because of the intransigence of giving evidence again was exiled a second time Cucuz in Armenia, by a decree signed by the Arcadia June 9 404. "Innocent I, bishop of Rome denounced necanonicitatea two councils which sentenced him, but his opinion has been overlooked by the imperial court of Constantinople, which confirmed the second exile." defeated and exiled John Chrysostom, in terms of human history, but in a few years became the winner of the heavenly perspective of history, "continued Fr. Daniel Benga:" On the night of 13 September 407, when St. John was asleep in Comana, near the Basilica of the Holy Martyr Vasilisc it appeared to him, telling him: "Courage, brother Ion, tomorrow we'll be together!"

In 412, bishop of Rome, Innocent I support the rehabilitation of St. John Chrysostom and Patriarch Proclus of Constantinople in 438, along with Theodosius II recall of its holy shrines in the city where he shepherded. On 27 January 438, the relics of the saint were

Three Saints, one feast

During the reign of Byzantine emperor Alexius I Comnenus (1081-1118) between Christians disagreement arose regarding devotion to the saints. In a millennium after Corinthians, the Apostle Paul's time, tended toward a partisan, saying: "I am of Paul, and I am of Apollos, and I am of Cephas, and I am of Christ!" (I Cor. 1, 12) - being reproved by the Apostle to the Gentiles - Sinaxar day says that between January 30 Christians were called ioanieni some other grigorieni vasilieni and others, and Price (strife, no) was the name of the words these saints. " Three Hierarchs were noted Bishop John Evhaitelor "one by one, then three together, actually, and not in a dream:" There is between us and the other one first, second, and you call one, come and the other two. [...] joins us in a single day and celebrates with us decency. " Noting that in January are commemorated, in turn, Basil (1), Gregory (25) and St. John (27), Bishop Evhaitelor "he celebrated at a place on the thirtieth, adorned them with canons job with troparia and words of praise, as it fell.

Gospel of the XXXII Sunday after Pentecost (the Zacchaeus)

EnlargeLuke 19, 1-10

At that time Jesus passed through Jericho, and behold a rich man named Zacchaeus, which was over the tax collectors, who seek to see Jesus, but many could not because it was small of stature. Then, running forward, he went into a mulberry tree to see him because there was going to pass. But when he arrived at that place, Jesus looked up, saw him and said to him, Zacchaeus, hurry up and get down, for today I must stay at your house. And he haste, came down and received him joyfully. When they saw this, all murmured, saying, came to host a sinner. But Zacchaeus, standing before the Lord, He said: this half of my possessions, Lord, give to the poor and if I have wronged someone with something, return fourfold. And Jesus spoke to him today was this house salvation, because he is the son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.

† Daniel

Romanian Orthodox Church Patriarch

The Gospel is read at Mass on Sunday after Pentecost XXXII see how changing the way the rich can be a salvation to bring, when the greedy is gracious, showing repentance and acts of repentance, having a personal , family and social.

Peace, joy and happiness not only be acquired through accumulation of material goods

Zacchaeus the tax collector is the only wealthy, of those presented by St. Luke the Evangelist, which saves even before meeting with the Lord Jesus Christ was only concerned about enrichment, kidnapping on many people and their belongings.

At the time of the Savior, publicans, ie those people appointed by the Roman occupation regime to collect taxes for the Empire, were generally willing to enrichment, eagerly collecting the taxes had more population than was fitting times than allowed by law.

One of them, Zacchaeus, the chief publican of Jericho and its surroundings, was a man hated by the people's greed and envy for the wealth they had gathered. He enrichment quickly, but the dishonest or unfair.

At one point, however, the tax collector Zacchaeus life awoke a longing for change. He realized that was not as happy as they had hoped to be the decision to gather more wealth, by whatever means. Riches he gathered it contented soul. He felt that man is more than matter, that peace, joy and happiness come not only from the accumulation of material around the man, but rather by increasing the spiritual goodness of the human inside of his soul .

Thus, the greedy and unjust soul of Zacchaeus the publican is a desire for change. He therefore, a rich man, but small of stature, climbed into a sycamore tree to see him succeed in Jesus of Nazareth who changed the lives of so many people. Although the act of Zacchaeus would seem, rather, inspired by curiosity, however, its depths, he felt and believed that the Lord Jesus Christ can free him with the passion of greed for wealth and to give his life a new path, the path salvation. Evidence that Zacchaeus was driven by a search of an honest and life-changing secret desire is precisely that Christ the Savior, the knower of the souls of men, the great crowd of people just called him by name and said he wanted to be received in his house.

Savior Jesus Christ does not judge anyone hastily in, by appearances, as does the public surface

Opens the road for Jesus is the way of salvation. Who seek him and met him as he feels God is changing lives. Christ always gives another chance to those who seek Him and to respond to them very often a new, surprising and unexpected. So it was with Zacchaeus, the chief publican, a wealthy, greedy and proud, a man of his peers unjust and oppressive.

Passing through Jericho, Christ the Savior is attentive to the crowd that comes in the way he sees them not only those near or those before him, but those far away or on the road. Looking to Zacchaeus, Jesus Christ the Saviour saw in him not only a man of short stature and a curious climbed a tree, but an eager soul searching and spiritual change. Therefore, Jesus said, "Zacchaeus, hurry up and get down, for today I must stay at your house" . An unexpected invitation addressed to a publican, to the astonishment of all who knew him as a man Zacchaeus evil and greedy. Therefore, Christ the Savior of all expressed in sight and hearing His desire to enter into someone's home who would never have dared ask him such an invitation.

Therefore, the Gospel tells us that this attitude of Jesus immediately provoked wonder and murmur in the crowd. As we say today, public opinion has reacted negatively to unexpected gesture of Jesus Christ. Maybe all those who knew the publican Zacchaeus misdeeds were entitled to be surprised that Jesus "came to host a sinner." However, Lord Jesus Christ did not judge people as public opinion, for he came into the world to help people before you judge , I came to heal and to raise the passions of sins, as He says himself: "I came to judge the world but to save the world" (cf. John 12, 47).

The goodness of Christ has penetrated beyond the wickedness of Zacchaeus

The Gospel tells us, further, how did the tax collector Zacchaeus renewed soul, as Christ the Saviour came to his house. We see that the greedy tax collector is generous, is radically changed, but not because he was sternly reprimanded, but he was honored with an unexpected honor . Presence of Jesus in his house to overcome. Why? Because he was given an honor or appreciation that he knew that it deserves. Christ honored a sinner who does not deserve the honor of men because he was dishonest in dealing with them. However, the overwhelming kindness and mercy of Christ has penetrated so deeply beyond the darkness of sin or evil spirit of greed that ruled the tax collector, he dug into it that little bit of goodness that I had left and he rekindled the coal humanity, covered ash and slag sin . When the goodness of this almost extinct coal fire was ignited by saving and merciful love of Christ, he burst in the light of learning new Zacchaeus: "here's half of my possessions, Lord, give to the poor and if I have wronged someone with something, return fourfold " . pitch almost became extinct due to greed of giving fiery torch soon!

Here we see the great wisdom of Jesus Christ and His divine goodness Great confessor, the only perfect father , who heals and frees the souls of sinners, recover the lost, releasing the enthusiast and raises the fallen .

Zacchaeus, greedy and zgârcitul, is merciful, because he sought and found God's infinite mercy. Became a good man bad man, because he met with God's goodness. Man became man ruthlessly compassionate toward the poor, because he met with God Most Merciful .

Seeing this change in the life of Zacchaeus the Saviour Christ included in this new condition of life and his family, thus showing how a family can be part of God's blessing given to a member thereof.

"And Jesus spoke to him today was this house salvation, because he (Zacchaeus) is the son of Abraham." It added that they, the Savior and the words: "because he is the son of Abraham" ? It was not enough to say: "Today salvation has been done to this house?

These words of the Saviour autoinvitării His explanation reveals the house of Zacchaeus. To be called the son of Abraham is to have faith . Therefore, despite his sinfulness, when Zacchaeus climbed the mulberry tree (sycamore), he went there believing that Jesus can forgive and can change lives . This belief that only God-man he could read the very soul of Zacchaeus, as its opening for a new relationship, the holy of God, Jesus Christ warned. Therefore, since the grace of Jesus Christ first met the mysterious soul of Zacchaeus, he wanted Christ to come in and then the house of Zacchaeus, and proclaim to fulfill his soul's salvation and healing.

Goodness gracious God delivers people's greed

In the gospel of "Sunday of Zacchaeus' we see that God changes people's hearts, not so much the punishment, sickness, sorrow or reprimands, but especially by an overwhelming kindness shown to sinful men, often in unexpected and undeserved. But God's mercy and kindness shown very often over the greatest sinners, not only for their conversion, but as an appeal to all people , which should make it as better, more compassionate, to seek Multmilostivul likeness of God.

On the other hand, showing repentance by changing the tax collector Zacchaeus spiritual repentance is not only manifest regret for wrongs committed, but a positive change in the way of thinking, feeling and commit . Neither the Lord Jesus Christ did not rebuke Zacchaeus, Zacchaeus has not uttered any words of repentance and begging for forgiveness, but, overwhelmed by the merciful love of Jesus, the sinner has gone directly to the acts of repentance and reformation, that the good works when someone commits them change their lives for the better and becomes a good soul . individual repentance of Zacchaeus is a boon and a blessing not only for himself but for all his household and the community or society. House greed that gathered undeserved wealth and dishonest, based on injustice, extortion and humiliation, is now home to the mercy and generosity toward the poor, but also repair and restore the moral righteousness of the aggrieved and humiliated by greedy tax collectors and ruthless of the chief publican Zacchaeus. So both the passion of greed, and her healing through repentance is never just a personal problem but a social one .

The episode with the tax collector Zacchaeus meeting Jesus Christ and teach us that we can change our lives for the better on its own initiative , not waiting to be punished, no quarrel with the disease, suffering or to reprimand, but cugetând the goodness of God and His desire to enter the house of our soul. How and when can we change for the better? In very many ways and at any time. For example, when we see a man more faithful than we do, do not envy him, but we also have to decide our faith stronger, when we see a man more industrious and more generous than ours, let us also resolve to be and hardworking and generous, when they see someone has a cleaner life than us, that live in holiness, let us resolve to cleanse our sins and new life. In doing so, and we hear in our souls as secret echoes Christ our Lord's words: "Today salvation has been done to this house, because he is the son of faith"!

Our Savior Jesus continually search for each of us as we seek Him and Him, the Source of blessed life

This Sunday's Gospel is full of spiritual teachings, and its conclusion, as expressed by Christ's words: "Son of Man came to seek and save the lost" , is cause for hope and encouragement for us all.

Any man who remains a man lost in sin, unless he repents. Repentance, however, mean a life change, a shift from perishing in the path of salvation from the evil deeds to good deeds.

Today's Gospel shows us what a great sinner has repented and converted only because she was shown a kindness or an undeserved honor. It helps us to understand that a lot more kindness and goodness of God is a mysterious call to repentance, to change for the better . Many people, even more sinful than others, receiving many gifts from God. Although they are bad, though it goes well, and some ask how well these people are doing so bad or greedy?

The answer may be that the Lord Jesus Christ expects His goodness, His mercy and kindness to him one day determine the most sinners to change their lives, to convert, not because of fear of punishment or theme, but thanks goodness God , who loves every man and willing that any should perish but be saved, that is to come to Him freely, with the desire of salvation, eternal life happy, love the Blessed Trinity.

We pray to the Lord Jesus Christ to help us to change our lives and we go through the trouble not only when but also when we receive undeserved gifts and blessings from God . To become good and good deeds that the fruits of his goodness, working in us, to the glory of the Most Holy Trinity and for our salvation! Amen.

Amin.

It is not accidental the fact that a special place in his contest of the civilization of Byzantium and detained him at the time of the Crusades and the attacks on the Byzantine rite, western historians seen as an integral part of the long-înfieratei by her "perfidy Graecorum." Sovereign presence in the time western Byzantine territory Crusade II protocol has caused considerable difficulties between her and Manuel I Comnenus. Tensions have arisen, for example, the attitude of Conrad III, German Emperor, "not at all willing to temper and pride, claiming that the emperor (Byzantine) to meet him to meet the its way to Byzantium, in fact he invented and other such conditions for his visit (Constantinople). The emperor gave him such a fuss realize that he had no limits and no more stuck in the statement. " Adopting a more malleable, King Louis VII of France gave up "Conrad's excessive arrogance," and thus drawing a more gracious and managed by the emperor to visit the beauties, priceless treasures and relics kept in the Byzantine capital . Arriving at the Imperial Palace, Louis also had received emperor, which was also placed on a high throne, while his stool was brought down, called the "sell" in Latin.

This label has been complicated over time, starting from the foundation of Latin and oriental influences accented by the "proskynesis", ie worship of the emperor, the obligation of others to remain silent ("silentium", where the calculation silention Greek, or the guard of "silenţiarilor") in his presence, supplemented by details imperial coronation committed since the fifth century by the Patriarch became ecumenical "starting from John IV the Faster (582-595 ), which drew the response of Pope Gregory the Great (590-604), who attributed the phrase "servorum Servus Dei" Pontifical Diplomatic maintained today.

Based on the original Roman and Roman imperial cult, political doctrine of imperial omnipotence and have it come as a providential man "since his mother's womb" had been appointed by God with this mission, he said, crystallized while accommodated by the dynastic legitimacy within a single family, the role became queen "Augusta", and especially the relatives of children associated to the throne (a practice inherited all of the Roman Empire and taken on a wider range of medieval kings, including our rulers), a primate Virtual "porfirogenezei" by the role of imperial symbols, signs and clothing supplemented by specific dignity of each court or public. Such details appear in the writings that make up the ceremonial Byzantine literature.

Emperor holidays

In each of menţionatele eve celebrations at the usual time to go in procession daily Tricliniul Golden prepositions (Chrysotriklinos), recalling the day following the feast of sovereigns and receive from the organization of the procession. In turn, gave the prepositions in this room personnel provisions imperial ( koubouklion , former "cubiculum sacrum), ie so-called koubikoularioi then catepanului, palate guards captain and two demarhi, one a captain demes Blue, the other Greens demes. Prefect or diocese (hyparchos "iparhul ie, the text of Constantine VII) Capital passageways clean and adorned with floral decorations of the season.

The next day, the great goalkeeper ( megas pappias ) opened the palace gate, which penetrated prepositions, vestitores , taking the rod of Moses, vestiarii imperial wardrobe, involved and crowns, which were carefully spătarii weapons, after which the sovereigns, "clothed in skaramangion, leaving the apartment and making sacred prayer Chrysotriklinos, where the holy and the divine image of God seated on the throne of our Lord and prepositions make their entrance with a deep bow to the sovereign. They then dress robes woven with gold sagion , exiting through Phylax. The body welcomes manglaviţilor Sigma, with the prefect Logotheti documents ( ho epi tou kanikleiou ), head of chancery and protonotarul. They presented their compliments sovereigns and escorted them further. "

The procession passed as the Virgin Mary Church, where the kings received their assigned a prepoziţi cubicular candles, candles in hand sovereigns then went on to Holy Trinity Church, where he bowed three times before the relics, and to sit cubicularii Baptister candles held by the emperors to the existing three crosses there. It thus reached Augusteus, where kings were welcomed by staff and guards at the Chrysotriklinos, which compliments this with others. The octagonal room of the Church of St. Stephen the First Martyr, was made imperial robes, the three kings bringing their homage slopes, thanking God and worship is "the great, beautiful and precious cross of St. Constantine. The bedroom apartment in Daphne, brought the referendum on the order of the patriarch's instructions for conducting religious ceremonies that day, which brought them to the Sovereign prepositions. Follow putting their "brilliant mantle, then placing the crowns on their heads. Thus crowned, penetrated the sovereigns of that Augusteus Triklinos site, where they were Logotheti "dromou tou," "ho epi tou kanikleiou" catepanul and palace guards. Inside the great gates were Augusteus medelnicerii ( nipsêstiarioi ) with the basins of gold, adorned with precious stones. Outside the gate to begin the next stage Augusteus procession of emperors received high officials homage bodies: magistro, proconsuls, patrikioi, strategies, major office holders ( offikialioi ) and clisurarhi.

The next phase of the procession held in Onopodion, where kings were expected to guarding Capital Fleet Admiral ( droungarios viglês tes ), not the entire fleet, again receiving the homage of the procession, groups, master of ceremonies in the presence of ( epi tes ho katastaseos ) .

It further went on to great consistory, where the head of the procession added chancery ( protoasekretês ) protonotarul with his subordinates (secretaries, notaries and chartulari), at Triklinos the candidate, then at the Excubiţilor, which it acquired in May Procession sceptres called Vela, LaBar and kampêdêktoria and flags of military corps.

From Lychnoi, where sovereigns again lit candles, according to the protocol, it reached court, where the series began receptions: the first Democrat Scholelor blue or domesticated, the other head of demes, with the greatest representatives of that organization as silk merchants ( vestiopratai) or silverware ( argyropratai ).

A second reception was held at propileele from "Holy Apostles" by Green starter by their Democrat or eskoubitos, third and fourth in the Bronze Gate (Chalk) and beyond, the fifth, the great gateway leading the Augustaion, actual and Meletios, officiated by demarhul Greens faction along with red, and the sixth clock at St. Sophia, the demarhul blue, with Whites faction.

Entrance to the "Saint Sophia" is made through good behavior, after which they put prepositions kings crowns the head, before entry into the vault narthex column, ie the place where Orthodox churches will mark the entrance hall or exonarthexul, patriarch with his clergy waiting in the narthex at the entrance to the imperial procession.

The sacred character of the imperial dignity has increased over time

After the service inside St. Sofia, held the same

respect of the protocol - this time both secular and ecclesiastical - was returning to the Imperial Palace in reverse, on the same route earlier. Wishes to the kings and religious songs at these receptions are described in detail in the second chapter of the Book Ceremonies.

In the evolution of the Byzantine rite, during the pre-Christian descinse details have faded with time or, in some cases, have been concealed under a new garb, claiming Christian elements with increasing force and sanctity of the imperial dignity emphasizing to a greater extent than the person of the king. Epithets about Christian doctrine and even outperforms replace those ancient heritage taking about 'divus ", a term whose Greek counterpart" Theia "is deleted in front of" hagios ", which has ecclesiastical connotations in higher than "hier", the latter closer to the ancient heritage. Thus better understand the purpose of the hymn "Trisagion" in Byzantine ceremony, especially the imperial coronation. The fact that the greeting at Sovereign, secular songs with flair but especially those in their church services are repeated three times, as is the case in "Trisagion, take the special significance of the figure three, the Holy Trinity in Christian doctrine .

I insisted on some fragments of Byzantine court ceremony during the height of the Empire, as they emerge from the description of the emperor Constantine VII. Although we have reduced the size as concise, it is clear that the details of this description is been formed over time, as a result of secular trends, as otherwise they would not remain the same in the following centuries, it suffered many vicissitudes of the Byzantine State . No significant changes had to occur from time Comnenus, the Sacred Palace and the Grand Palace rivalry began to suffer from Blachernai new residences, or after the year 1346, when "St. Sofia" was seriously damaged by an earthquake, the church Blachernai temporarily assuming the role of the Great Church in the coronation ceremony. Not to mention the changes required by the Nicene period, when Constantinople became the center of the Eastern Latin Empire (1204-1261). It is no coincidence that in the fourteenth century, the Treaty of Pseudo-Codina did not know precisely how to explain some dignity, as well as some details of the ceremony when the Byzantine court.

Set up in time, faithful expression of the Byzantine imperial idea, this ceremony had developed the cult of the Roman emperors of the ancient world, but with significant changes imposed by Christianity, which brought him to a genuine imperial liturgy. If this liturgy faded and disappeared over time even as the empire collapsed, and Orthodox churches have taken some of these old joints, placing them in their Christian liturgy, which holds to this day something of significance and details that recreate the atmosphere of the past, particularly that of the great sacred holidays.

Copy imperial power terrestrial celestial harmony

Of all the most detailed and important details of everyday life by the king's court and participation in religious observances is "caerimoniis" opera "lover of Christ and fully Christ the eternal King Emperor" (Constantine VII) , which this paper was more expensive than any other thing, because through it, thanks to a commendable order of things, "reads the imperial power and higher, enhanced prestige, and through this miracle come to admire for generations, and to our subject. For it is known that many things are likely to disappear in the long-time shift that created them, but make them obsolete ... In this way, the imperial power exercised in the pace and order due, able to reproduce the movement and harmony that the universe and the Creator a print empire, look great and our subjects, and therefore more enjoyable and worthy of admiration. "

Considerably larger than the following, the first chapter sets out the rules of the procession to St. Sophia, "that order and ceremony and the brilliant train; insignia (or let proeleuseis prokensoi, from the Latin" processio) that kings go out to the Great Church " , studied details and summaries Ebersolt J. L. Brèhier. Another chapter deals specifically with the clothes of kings during the various processions and celebrations. "The Holy and Great Sunday of Pascha, sovereigns (despotic) leaving the palace with a skaramangion sagion purple and embroidered with gold thread. Doublets Change takes tzitzakia bedroom oval and the Daphne and the kiss of peace ceremony takes place the great Triklinos of the 19 beds. After the ceremony the kiss, he removed tzitzakia

and put their belts (loro) and crowns, white or red, as they prefer. In the left hand take the gold scepter adorned with precious stones and pearls, and in the right anexikakia. "

Taken together, the first two chapters of "Book of Ceremonies" expose the order, with strict rules of conduct of processions of the Grand Imperial Palace at St. Sophia's and back, religious chants, cheers received kings from constitutional bodies and social capital, emphasizing Finally the whole ceremony described in Chapter II for Christmas Day is a way identical to other important Christian holidays, namely the Epiphany (Epiphany or Feast of Lights), Easter, Pentecost (or Pentecost, non-existent within this text but confirmed by other testimony regarding the first Eastern Roman) and Transfiguration. Obviously, numerous other festivals are chapters, one of which is dedicated to the special situation that falls right in the Annunciation of the Holy Cross Sunday, the third of Lent, ie the middle Păresimilor. Chronicles of space Orthodox Byzantine or later states and situations, very rare, in which Easter falls on March 25, with the Annunciation. One such case is called "Pascha Kyrion.
