Daily Prayer (Hymn of Praise) to Mariam:

(Hymn of Praise of the Virgin Mariam)

(D) Forth Day of The Week - Wednesday

1. All the hosts of the Heavens say, Blessed art thou,

O thou second heaven upon the earth, Door of the sunrise

(or the East), Mariam the Virgin, thou pure Bridechamber

of the Holy Bridegroom. The Father looked down from

heaven, and found none like unto thee; He sent His Holy

One, and He became incarnate of thee.

O HOLY VIRGIN MARIAM PRAY FOR US.

2. All generations shall ascribe blessings unto you,

You alone are our Lady, The Bearer of God. Great and

wonderful things have (the Prophets) prophesied concerning

you, O City of God, for thou art the abode of all those who

rejoice. All the Kings of the earth walk in thy light and all

nations in thy splendor (Isaiah 9:3). O Mariam, all

generations shall ascribe blessings unto you. And shall

worship Him who was brought forth by you, and shall

magnify Him, (All of them).

O HOLY VIRGIN MARIAM PRAY FOR US.

3. You are in very truth the cloud, and you have shown us

the water of the rain, the sign of the Only Begotten, The

Father established thee, the Holy Spirit took up His abode

on you, and the power of the Most High overshadowed you,

O Mariam, and verily you did bring forth the Word, the Son

of God, Who endures forever. He came and has delivered

us from sin. O Holy Mariam Great was the honour that was

bestowed upon you, O Gabriel, the Angel of the

Annunciation with the joyful face, He did proclaim unto us

the birth of the Lord, Who has come to us, and He did

announce Him to Mariam, the spotless Virgin, and did say

to her, “Rejoice Thou, O Thou art full of grace, God is with

thee” (Luke1:28).

O HOLY VIRGIN MARIAM PRAY FOR US.

4.Thou did find grace, The Holy Spirit dwelt upon thee, and

the power of the Most High overshadowed you, O Mariam.

Verily you did bring forth the Holy Saviour for all the world.

He came and He has delivered us.

O HOLY VIRGIN MARIAM PRAY FOR US.

5. Our tongue this day praise the work of the Virgin.

We praise Mariam, the God-Bearer, because our Lord and

Redeemer Eeyesus Kristos was born of her in the city of

David. Come, O all you nations, and let us ascribe blessing

unto Mariam, for she is at once mother and Virgin. Rejoice,

O pure Virgin, in whom there is no blemish, to whom came

the Word of the Father, Who was incarnate of her. Rejoice,

O vessel unblemished, perfect and spotless Woman.

O HOLY VIRGIN MARIAM PRAY FOR US.

Rejoice thou, O Garden endowed with reason, thou abode

of Kristos, Who became the Second-Adam because the

first Adam was the man. Rejoice thou, O Woman who bore

the Only-Begotten, Who, having gone forth from the bosom

of His Father, suffered no change. Rejoice, O thou pure

Bride-chamber, who are adorned with all the beauty of

praise, He came and was incarnate of you.

Rejoice, O Thorn-bush, who was not consumed by the fire

of the God-head. Rejoice, thou O mother and Maid, Virgin,

thou second heaven, who did carry in your body Him who is

born aloft by the Cherubim and Seraphim.

O HOLY VIRGIN MARIAM PRAY FOR US.

And because of this we rejoice and we sing with the Holy

Angels with joy and gladness, and we say “Glory to God in

the heavens, and peace on earth, His good will to men.

(Luke 2:14)” For He unto Whom belong glory and praise for

ever and ever is well pleased with thee. Amen.

O HOLY VIRGIN MARIAM PRAY FOR US.

6. The glory of Mariam is greater than that of all the saints,

for she was worthy to receive the Word of the Father. Him

Who make the angels to be afraid, Him Whom the watching

Angels in heaven praise, did Mariam the Virgin carry in her

womb. She is greater than the Cherubim, and superior to

the Seraphim, for she was the Ark (or Tabernacle) of the

Holy Trinity. She is Jerusalem, the city of the Prophets,

and she is the habitation of the joy of all the saints. On the

people who sat in darkness and shadow of death has a

great light risen. God who rest in His Holiness became

incarnate of a Virgin for our salvation. Come ye and look

upon this marvelous thing, and sing ye His song because of

the mystery that has been revealed unto us, for He who was

become a man, the Word mingled (with our nature), He who

had no beginning (assumed) a beginning for Himself, and

He who had no days (reckoned) to Himself days, and He

who was invisible, showed Himself; the Son of the Living

God became a man indeed, Him do we worship and praise.

O HOLY VIRGIN MARIAM PRAY FOR US.

7. Ezekiel the Prophet testified concerning her and said,

“ I see a sealed door in the East, sealed with a great and

wonderful seal, and no one except the God of the mighty

one has gone through it. He went in and He came out.”

(Ezekiel 43:4; 44:1-2).

O HOLY VIRGIN MARIAM PRAY FOR US.

8. This door is the Virgin who brought forth for us the

Redeemer. And after she brought Him forth she remained

in her virginity. Blessed is the Fruit of thy Womb, O God-

bearer, who came and delivered us out of the hand of the

Enemy who was merciless. Complete are thou and

blessed; thou has found grace with the King of Glory, the

God of truth. O HOLY VIRGIN MARIAM Majesty and

Glory belong to you more than to all those who dwell upon

earth. The Word of the Father came and was incarnate of

you, and walked about with men, for He is compassionate

and a Lover of men. He delivered our souls by His Holy

coming. O HOLY VIRGIN MARIAM PRAY FOR US.

Morning Prayer

In the name of the Father ….

Opening prayer

Lord Jesus Christ our Master, we have been baptized into your death; may we be cleaned of greed, selfishness, hate and envy, and clothed in the strength and gentleness of your grace and love. Amen. Our Father…O my Lady Mary…

Psalm 90: 1-17

90:1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God. 90:3 Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men. 90:4 For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. 90:5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which grows up. 90:6 In the morning it flourishes, and grows up; in the evening it is cut down, and withers. 90:7 For we are consumed by your anger, and by your wrath are we troubled. 90:8 You have set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of your countenance. 90:9 For all our days are passed away in your wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told. 90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. 90:11 Who knows the power of your anger? even according to your fear, so is your wrath. 90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom. 90:13 Return, O Lord, how long? and let it repent thee concerning your servants. 90:14 O satisfy us early with your mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. 90:15 Make us glad according to the days wherein you have afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil. 90:16 Let your work appear to your servants, and your glory to their children. 90:17 And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning….

Psalm 91: 1-16

91:1 He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 91:2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 91:3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shall thou trust: his truth shall be your shield and buckler. 91:5 Thou shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; 91:6 Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. 91:7 A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 91:8 Only with your eyes shall thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. 91:9 Because you have made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, your habitation; 91:10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh your dwelling. 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all your ways. 91:12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash your foot against a stone. 91:13 Thou shall tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shall thou trample under feet. 91:14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 91:15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 91:16 With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning….

Psalm 92: 1-15

92:1 it is a good thing to give thanks to the lord, and to sing Praises to your name, O most high: 92:2 To declare your loving-kindness in the morning, and your faithfulness every night, 92:3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. 92:4 For thou, Lord, have made me glad through your work: I will triumph in the works of your hands. 92:5 O Lord, how great are your works! and your thoughts are very deep. 92:6 A brutish man knows not; neither doth a fool understand this. 92:7 When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed forever: 92:8 But thou, Lord, art most high forevermore. 92:9 For, lo, your enemies, O Lord, for, lo, your enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. 92:10 But my horn shall thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. 92:11 Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me. 92:12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 92:13 Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. 92:14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; 92:15 To show that the Lord is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning….

The Gospel of St. Luke 15: 3-7

15:3 And he spoke this parable to them, saying, What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calls together his friends and neighbours, saying to them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say to you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repents, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. Lord, our Almighty King and Father, we pray to you to let us know that the kingdom of God does not mean food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit; he who thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. Psalm 93: 1-5

93:1 The Lord reigns, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. 93:2 Your throne is established of old: you are from everlasting. 93:3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. 93:4 The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea. 93:5 Your testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh your house, O Lord, forever. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning….

Psalm 94: 1-23

94:1 O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongs; O God, to whom vengeance belongs, show thyself. 94:2 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud. 94:3 Lord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? 94:4 How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? 94:5 They break in pieces your people, O Lord, and afflict your heritage. 94:6 They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless. 94:7 Yet they say, The Lord shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it. 94:8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise? 94:9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see? 94:10 He that chastises the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teaches man knowledge, shall not he know? 94:11 The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity. 94:12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord, and teachest him out of your law; 94:13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked. 94:14 For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance. 94:15 But judgment shall return to righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it. 94:16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? 94:17 Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. 94:18 When I said, My foot slips; your mercy, O Lord, held me up. 94:19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me your comforts delight my soul. 94:20 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law? 94:21 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood. 94:22 But the Lord is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge. 94:23 And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the Lord our God shall cut them off. The Gospel of St. Luke 18 1-8

18:1 And he spoke a parable to them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night to him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? It is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one ….

THE SIXTH MONTH

YEKATIT 23

(March 02)

IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER AND THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT,

ONE GOD. AMEN.

On this day became a martyr Saint Eusebius, the son of the holy and blessed Basilides, the captain of the royal troops of the city of Antioch, and the father of kings. And this saint was in the war against the men of the country of the Persians, and when Diocletian denied our Lord Jesus Christ, Basilides sent to this son Eusebius, and told him that Diocletian had denied Christ. And this saint summoned his kinsfolk, the saints and men of the palace, that is to say, ‘Abadir, and Justus, and Claudius, and Theodore from the East, and he told them how Diocletian had denied our Lord Christ, and how he worshipped idols; and they were exceedingly sorry. And the holy and excellent man Eusebius said unto them, “I want to shed my blood for the Name of Christ,” and all those saints agreed with him in this excellent decision, and they swore each to the other that they would do so. And when the Romans had conquered their enemies, and had returned to the city of Antioch with victory and joy, Diocletian and his soldiers went out and met them, and Khermanos (Romanus), the father of Victor, advised the emperor to have the saints brought before him, and to fetch idols for them to worship. And the emperor did as Khermanos (Romanus) advised him, and he summoned the saints to him, and said unto them, “Ye know well that I love you exceedingly, I want you to make my heart to rejoice, and to worship Apollo.” And when Saint Eusebius heard this he was exceedingly angry, and he drew his sword and wished to kill the emperor, and the emperor fled from him and hid himself. But this saint killed many of the emperor’s companions, and had it not been that Basilides restrained his son and his kinsmen the saints, they would have hilled all the emperor’s soldiers. After this Khermanos (Romanus) advised the emperor to send Eusebius to the country of Egypt, and to let the officers kill him there, [saying], “If he remaineth here in this city he will stir up the men of the city against thee at all times, and thou wilt not be able to do anything when thou wishest.” And the emperor wrote and commanded [the governor] to send Eusebius to the country of Egypt, to Lolyanos, the governor of Keft (Coptos), and he sent him away as the emperor commanded. And when Eusebius arrived in Keft (Coptos), the governor tortured him very severely on the wheel, and he cut off his members, and after this he beat him severely, and after this he boiled him in a cauldron. And our Lord sent to him His angel, who strengthened him under his tribulation, and comforted him, and healed his wounds, and raised him up whole and uninjured. And then the angel caught away his soul to the Garden of Delight, and the saint saw the abode of the martyrs, and the saints, and the righteous, and he saw the places which God had prepared for him, and his father, and his brother, and his kinsfolk, and his soul rejoiced exceedingly. And after this the governor commanded the soldiers to burn him in a furnace outside the city of ‘Ehnasa, and they burnt him as the governor had commanded them; and the angel of God came down to him in the red-hot furnace, and made the flame to be as cold as ice, and he brought Saint Eusebius out of the fiery furnace whole and uninjured. And the officers and the judges advised the governor, saying, “O governor, command the soldiers to cut off the head of this man, and have rest from him”; and the emperor commanded and the soldiers cut off the head of this Eusebius with the sword, and he received the crown of martyrdom in the kingdom of the heavens. Salutation to Eusebius, the son of Basilides, the general.

[On this day is commemorated ‘Awsegneyos, the chief of the Council, and the deputy of Theodore, in the country of the East.]

Salutation to ‘Agabitos (Agapetus).

Glory be to God Who is glorified in His Saints. Amen.
