Walk by Faith—Not by Sight

KEY VERSE: "(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)," 2 Corinthians 5:7.

I once played a party game that illustrated living by faith instead of by sight. An obstacle course had been erected in the backyard. Each person would attempt to complete the obstacle course blindfolded. The first time the person attempted to complete the obstacle course, everyone was yelling out directions on what to do. No one was able to complete the obstacle course by this method. Then, he would be allowed to complete the obstacle course with just one person giving directions. It was much easier to complete the obstacle course this way.

To attempt to live without faith is like attempting to complete an obstacle course with many people yelling out directions. There will be many defeats and struggles along the way. Unfortunately, this is how many people live. Instead of trusting God, they depend upon themselves or society to show them the way through their struggles. This brings more confusion than answers.

To live by faith in God can be compared to completing an obstacle course with one person giving directions. God sees the obstacles we do not yet see. He knows the best way to circumvent the obstacles. We must follow God's instructions to overcome the obstacles that we will encounter. It may not be clear at first why God is leading us as He is, but we will never go wrong following His instructions.

JUST A THOUGHT: Faith trusts God to steer us through the dark paths and around the unseen obstacles.
